OSHO

Yoga Baratha

Boxed Included Flowing Titles 1) Meditation Meditation by Osho is a book that approaches meditation from a different perspective. The book states that meditation is a part of the daily life. The book also covers the Osho Dynamic Meditation and the Osho Kundalini Meditation, which involve multiple levels of energetic movements of the body. Meditation takes a different approach to meditation techniques and presents it in a format that is enjoyable. The book suggests that a person can associate himself with medicine after he realizes what lies beneath him and also what lies in his surroundings. This book is a practical guide to meditation, including the Osho Active Meditations and several other techniques that help a person to relieve him of the mental stress that he encounters. This book states that such a practice is essential for the mind and the body to reach the highest level of activity, and ensures that they welcome the subsequent quietness. Osho, born as Chandra Mohan Jain in Bhopal on December 11, 1931, has authored more than 600 books, which include Creativity and Body Mind Balancing. He is famously known as Acharya Rajneesh or Osho from the 1970s. He was acclaimed all over the world as a religious guru. Osho set up an Ashram in Pune and later in Oregon, USA. He breathed his last at the age of 58 in 1990 in Pune. 2) OSHO : Secrets of Yoga You are here, that much is certain. You are alert that you are here, that much is also certain. Now these two ingredients are enough for yoga experimentation. In this book, part of a series, Osho expounds on the essence of Patanjal is philosophy which is contained in his sutras. Elaborating on these, Osho says that though the sutras contain the key to understanding the self, they are just introductory, just a preface to the real thing. The actual work, he feels, starts when one is ready to change, to mutate, to become new. He maintains that the enlightened one has gone beyond the ego and knows the oneness of all things. Secrets of Yoga, the result of Osho’s talks, is rich with insights from Osho’s awakened consciousness. Replete with anecdotes, simple yet deep, the book contains his views on crucial issues like ego, death and spirituality. The voyage of self-discovery is enlivened with Osho’s irreverent sense of humour. The book contains questions from various people keen to know themselves and Osho’s candid answers that make for delightful reading even as they offer solutions to those mired in similar problems. Pithy and profound, Secrets of Yoga is an invaluable guide for those looking for inner peace and harmony. 3) Freedom: The Courage to Be Yourself In Freedom, Osho outlines three stages of freedom. The first is \”freedom from,\” which is a freedom that comes from breaking out of what he calls the \”psychological slavery\” imposed by outside forces such as parents, society, or religion. The next stage is \”freedom for,\” a positive freedom that comes from embracing and creating something—a fulfilling relationship, for example, or an artistic or humanitarian vision. And lastly there is \”just freedom,\” the highest and ultimate freedom. This last freedom is more than being for or against something; it is the freedom of simply being oneself and responding truthfully to each moment. The Insights for a New Way of Living series aims to shine light on beliefs and attitudes that prevent individuals from being their true selves. The text is an artful mix of compassion and humor, and readers are encouraged to confront what they would most like to avoid, which in turn provides the key to true insight and power. Freedom helps readers to identify the obstacles to their freedom, both circumstantial and self-imposed, to choose their battles wisely, and to find the courage to be true to themselves.

Yoga Mala

Yoga Baratha

The seminal treatise and guide to Ashtanga yoga by the master of this increasingly popular discipline

There is a yoga boom in America, and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois is at the heart of it. One of the great yoga figures of our time, Jois brought Ashtanga yoga to the West a quarter of a century ago and has been the driving force behind its worldwide dissemination. Based on flowing, energetic movement, Ashtanga and the many forms of vinyasa yoga that grow directly out of it–have become the most widespread and influential styles of practice in the United States today.

Mala means “garland” in Sanskrit, and Yoga Mala–a “garland of yoga practice”–is Jois’s distillation of Ashtanga. He first outlines the ethical principles and philosophy underlying the discipline and explains its important terms and concepts. Next he guides the reader through Ashtanga’s versions of the Sun Salutation and its subsequent sequence of forty-two asanas, or poses, precisely describing how to execute each position and what benefits each provides.
Brought into English by Eddie Stern, a student of Jois’s for twelve years and director of the Patanjali Yoga Shala in New York City, Yoga Mala will be an indispensable handbook for students and teachers of yoga for years to come.

Spanda Karikas

Yoga Baratha

The Spandakarikas are a number of verses that serve as a sort of commentary on the Siva-sutras. According to Saivagama, the divine consciousness is not simply cold, inert intellection. It is rather spanda, active, dynamic, throbbing with life, creative pulsation. In Siva-sutras, it is the prakasa aspect of the divine that is emphasized, in Spandakarikas, it is the vimarsa aspect that is emphasized. Together, these two books give us integral view of Saiva philosophy. Ksemaraja has written a commentary on Spandakarikas, titled Spanda-nirnaya. He is fond of sesquipedalian compounds, long and windy sentences, but he is very profound in the comprehension of the subject and so cannot be ignored. The author tried to provide a readable translation of both the karikas and the Spanda-nirnaya commentary. Each karika (verse) is given both in Devanagari and Roman script, followed by its translation in English. This is followed by Ksemaraja’s commentary in Sanskrit, then, follows an English translation of the commentary. After this, copious notes are added on important and technical words. Finally, a running exposition of each karika in author’s own words is given.
